In the beginning, the costing of your shop is simple, but it gets tricky with time when your shop starts getting sales. That’s why you should have knowledge of ETSY costing methods. Let’s discuss the costing method of ETSY in detail:

Listing Fees

ETSY will charge you 0.20$ when you’ll list a new product on ETSY. This listing will last for 4 months, and you’ve to renew that listing by paying 0.20$ to be visible in your shop. You can also select the auto-renew option, which will automatically renew your listing after these 4 months. There is confusion among sellers who are selling multiple quantities of the same product. For instance, you’re selling a digital product, i.e., a daily planner, that can be sold over and over. When a buyer buys a daily planner, ETSY will renew your listing and charge you 0.20$.

Transaction Fees

Like any other online platform, ETSY will charge you a transaction fee of 5% of your sale price and shipping price whenever you get a sale. For sellers selling their products in a different currency other than their home currency, ETSY will also charge them a currency conversion fee.

ETSY payment fees

If your country is part of the list of countries eligible for ETSY payments, you’ve to pay fees to ETSY for using these services. If your country isn’t included in that list, you must use different payment options.

For instance, the fee for using ETSY payments in the US is 0.25$ and 3% of what your customer pays, including sale and shipping prices.

ETSY plus plan pricing

Sellers can also opt for an optional ETSY plus subscription package for 10$, which will give them some additional advantages and help their shop grow. ETSY plus subscribers get the following things in their subscription:

  • They get 15 free listings, equivalent of 3$, for subscribing to ETSY plus
  • They get 5$ credit in the ETSY ads account, which they can use to promote their listings

The fee for ETSY plus plan is automatically deducted from your payment account unless you cancel your subscription. In ETSY plus subscription package, you also get discounts up to 50% for domain registration.

Advertising Fees:

As a beginner, you may want to promote your listings through ads to gain maximum views. ETSY has different advertising options that you can opt for to promote your listings.

ETSY Ads Fee

You can set a budget limit for your ETSY on-site ads and select specific listings that you want to promote. The more the budget, the more views you get and eventually more sales. ETSY only charges you for ETSY ads when someone clicks on your listings.

Offsite Ads Fee

ETSY also promotes your listing on different social media platforms. If someone sees your ads and makes a purchase, ETSY will charge you 15% of the sale and shipping prices. This may vary from situation to situation, but the average amount for this 15% of the attributed order.

Pattern Fees

ETSY also gives you the liberty of creating a personalized website for your product using the ETSY pattern. You get a 30-day free trial for this, and after this free trial, you’ll be charged 15$ per month for using the ETSY pattern.

To sum it up, ETSY pricing is a bit tricky, and you require a deep understanding of it to set your prices to optimize your profit. This article aims to give you a holistic view of ETSY costing methods and how you can leverage them to your benefit.
